The DonsOnline Hall of Fame
1 2 3 4 5 Next | Dave Anderson Dave Anderson helped the Dons complete their record 78 match unbeaten run started by Terry Eames and continued by Nicky English. He went on to lead the Dons to a Rymans League Division One Championship and Surrey Senior Cup victory against Walton and Hersham in his first season. In his two seasons at the helm in the Rymans Premier League, he led the Dons to the play-offs - only to see them fall at the first hurdle, to Fisher Athletic, then Bromley. His greatest achievements, to many, were the FA Vase victories at Aldershot and Gravesend & Northfleet, subsequently expunged from the record following the 'ineligible player'incident. Dave, we thank you for the good times, and can only wish that we could have gone that little further with you in charge. Our best wishes to you and your family in the future. |

The Wizard of Urse brought a sparkle to Kingsmeadow not previously seen by fans of AFC Wimbledon. His tricks amused us, his goals amazed us and his enthusiasm was second to none. Rob, it was a pleasure to watch you and to record some of your finest moments on video for posterity. So much more could be said about Robber Cell, but let the pictures tell the story... | | Kris Stewart The first Chairman of AFC Wimbledon. Kris was the chairman of WISA and worked hard to argue the case for not allowing WFC to be franchised to MK. On 28th May 2002 when all expectations were that the FA would uphold it’s own rules, the decision went against WFC’s loyal supporters, the Dons Trust and WISA. On 30th May 2002 a meeting was held in Wimbledon Community Centre. At that meeting Kris stood down as chairman of WISA so he could air his opinions from the floor. Should the Wimbledon faithful create their own football team to maintain the history of football in Wimbledon? It would have to start in the lower levels of non-league and would have to be started from scratch. It was touch and go on which way the hundreds of attendees would vote. Then Kris said “I just want to watch football” and by the end of the meeting AFC Wimbledon was on the way to being born. When it came to deciding on the AFC Wimbledon Chairman the natural choice was Kris. Not only has he overseen the formation and establishment of AFC Wimbledon as a force within non-league football, he has also advised others clubs such as FC United of Manchester. He leaves AFC Wimbledon at the start of the 2006/7 season to pursue other interests.

| | Dennis Lowndes AKA Dennis The Kit, Dennis has been supporting Wimbledon for years. He has always been there doing his bit to further the Club and the interests of the supporters. He was on the Wimbledon Football Supporters Club committee, he supported WISA through the dark days of the MK debacle, and when AFC Wimbledon was formed, who was there with a bag of balls – you’ve got it, Dennis. Only a truly dedicated supporter would volunteer to look after the kit, and having seen the state of it after some matches, this was not a job for the faint hearted. Dennis has always been a man of integrity, and he will be missed on the Wimbledon bench. Dennis Lowndes, we salute you. |

Shane Smeltz joined Wimbledon in March 2005 and signed a contract within weeks. He scored some cracking and important goals in 16 months he played for us including in the Surrey Senior Cup final against Walton. Perhaps most importantly he became the first AFCW International, albeit for New Zealand. He also became the first AFCW international goal-scorer on April 25 2006 when he scored in an away friendly against Chile. The list of Wimbledon Internationals (WFC and AFCW) is a small but select group. Shane left AFCW in July 2006 when he signed for Halifax Town for an undisclosed amount including a sell-on clause. So, in his final action for us he also became our first player sale. |

Sir Matt of Everard first came to our notice on August bank holiday Monday 2002. He scored for Ash Ash Ash Ash United as they came from 2-0 down to record a 3-2 victory in only our 4th CCL match. Less than 6 months later he was playing in the Yellow & Blue, a pillar in the centre of defence, and always a threat at set pieces. Captain Caveman achieved hero status scoring 2 goals at Herne Bay in an FA Vase match, including the match winning header deep into injury time, sending the travelling faithful in to ecstasy. Matt injured his knee late in 2004 and never fully recovered. Even whilst injured Matt often appeared on the terraces, usually having a crafty fag, and was always up for a pint in the bar afterwards. He also spawned his own lines of merchandise including “The Ascent of Matt” t-shirt and Leamington Pete’s animated classic to Everstrong’s “Take Me Home”. Matt announced his retirement on Friday December 2nd 2005, receiving a standing ovation at KM the next day. |
