Madman or wizard, Danny Oakins made a formidable defender and goalscorer. Danny was responsible for the amazing strike from the halfway line that beat the Woodford keeper in the London Senior Cup. In his first season the red mist descended more than most would have liked, but was compensated for by his talent and fearlessness. By the 2003/4 season Danny O had become a more controlled and effective player. He and Matt Everard controlled the defence and were one of the biggest reasons that AFCW conceded only 32 league goals in the 2003/4 season. He was unfortunate never to win POTY, but was runner up in both 2003 and 2004 and remains an AFCW hero. |

Not the tallest midfielder around, Seb Favata had more drive, energy and passion than almost anyone else on the pitch. A veritable terrier in the centre of the park, he would chase down any ball that came near him. He will be missed. |

What can one say about our first manager? A Don from Southern League and Division 4 days, and then a successful non-league manager. He answered the call to arms when AFC Wimbledon was little more than a brilliant idea, and, with his skill, knowledge and determination, helped give birth to this wonderful Club. He was as shocked as anyone when the 50 or so players he expected at Wimbledon Common for the first trials turned out to be nearly 300. He had the unenviable task of refining and honing a viable team out of a bunch of strangers. AFC Wimbledon was an unknown quantity with no guarantee that it would even get into a league let alone survive the first season. Despite everything, the team Terry created achieved an unbelievable 3rd place in the Combined Counties League in its first season. Whatever came later, Terry Eames was AFC Wimbledon’s first manager and, without him, our club may never have survived let alone achieved what it has. |

Another player from the first match against Sutton Utd, he was introduced to the expectant fans as ‘the man they call Trigger’. He scored AFC Wimbledon’s first goal at Bromley. Trigger ‘got us’ completely and, when his first team days were over, took on the management of the Reserves. Popular with supporters and players alike, the lanky striker will always have a place in Wimbledon history. |

The plucky centre-back who played with all his heart. The story of his goal against Hartley Wintney at Kingsmeadow is a classic. He collected the ball in the Don’s half from a Wintney clearance, ran forward and let loose a terrific strike from near the halfway line. To everyone’s amazement and joy, especially Sim’s, the ball finished in the top right corner of the net. He was the only player to have played every match for AFCW up to that point, and this was his first goal. Sim became a stalwart for the reserves before leaving the club. He remains an AFCW fan, and was last seen at the recent production of “A Fans’ Club”. |

A fantastic keeper and all round nice guy, Shims was totally solid between the sticks. First seen playing for Bromley in a pre-season friendly (where he was treated to the customary ‘West Bank’ barracking) he quickly signed up to prevent any possible recurrence. He left at the end of the 2002/3 season to spend more time with his wife and new-born twins. |
